Nneka J. Owens is a licensed mental health therapist, relationship advocate, producer, and visionary with more than 20 years of experience helping individuals, couples, and families heal, reconnect, and thrive.

Growing up on Detroit’s west side, Nneka carried a dream that has shaped her life’s work—to see people living in healthy, happy relationships. Even as a child, she recognized the pain that broken relationships could cause and believed that healing was possible. Today, that childhood dream has become a lifelong mission.

Throughout her career, Nneka has dedicated herself to creating safe spaces where honest conversations lead to transformation. She is the founder of Truth Party for Relationships, an interactive forum that encourages people to confront personal truths, discuss the real challenges that affect relationships, and embrace the healing necessary for lasting change. Through transparency, education, and meaningful dialogue, Truth Party has empowered countless individuals to begin restoring relationships with themselves and others.

Nneka is also the producer and creator of Beauty From Ashes: The Journey of Three Daughters, a powerful documentary released in 2022 that chronicles the deeply personal stories of three women navigating the complexities of their mother-daughter relationships. By courageously sharing their experiences, the film shines a light on generational wounds, forgiveness, resilience, and the hope that healing is possible. The documentary has become a catalyst for important conversations surrounding family relationships and emotional wellness.

As the founder of the Behind the 90 Foundation, Nneka is committed to promoting mental health awareness, emotional wellness, and relationship restoration. Through documentaries, workshops, retreats, community conversations, and educational programs, the foundation equips individuals and families with practical tools to heal broken relationships, strengthen healthy ones, and build emotionally healthier communities.

Nneka believes that when people heal individually, relationships become stronger, families become healthier, and communities become more connected. Her mission is simple yet profound: to normalize conversations about mental health, inspire healing through storytelling, and help people move beyond pain into purpose.
